Comments:

My great-great-great grandfather was a member of Shelby's Brigade, Marmaduke Division , Hindman's Corps along with many others from Waverly, MO. He was a surgeon and traveled all over helping wounded soldiers. I love this site as I suspect he was part of this battle. Would love more information if it is available.

About Me

I am a single father of 3 children ages 14, 7 and 3.  I am in the military part-time and work with the federal government full-time. I have been metal detecting on and off since a little boy. My father dabbled in it a bit and my earliest memories with him were finding pennies and junk. I purchased a detector about six years ago, and have just played with metal detecting on and off as I had time. I really am just a novice at this. My father is getting older and it is harder for him to get out, so part of my motivation is to reconnect with him and maybe encourage him to get back into this hobby and also maybe both of us can get more excercise.

I have also traveled out west doing  a little bit of gold panning. I have found a little, but have never been able to dedicate a trip to soley pursue panning.

Th'ing is something that I enjoy doing just for the historical aspect and getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Making a good find is just the icing on the cake so to speak. I enjoy seeing other folks finds, and hearing their stories about as much as finding something myself. After considering my long list of endeavors it seems like this is a hobby that I have always naturally gravitated toward. I hope to meet others that I can enjoy and share with.
